CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Northern Iowa women clinched a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign with Thursday’s 73-64 road victory over Southern Illinois.
The Panthers (19-9, 14-3) were paced by two 20-point scorers in Amber Sorenson and Madison Weekly. Sorenson knocked in a career-high 28 points, with Weekly adding 21. Jen Keitel also turned in her second double-double in a row, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Northern Iowa jumped out to an eight-point lead in the third quarter after going 4-for-5 from the field, including back-to-back 3s from Sorenson, to give them a 39-31 lead at the 4:46 mark of the third quarter.
