UNI volleyball clinches win in home opener over Western Michigan

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Three Panthers recorded double-digit kills as the UNI volleyball team defeated the Western Michigan Broncos in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-13) in its home opener on Friday night at the McLeod Center.

Emily Holterhaus led UNI with 15 kills in the Panther victory, as Olivia Tjernagel notched a career-high with 13 kills. Kira Fallert also posted a season-best 13 kills, while also posting 3 service aces, with Carly Spies tallying 7 total blocks in the win. Tayler Alden also recorded 3 aces to compliment 41 assists, while Sydney Petersen tied her season-high with 18 digs for the third time this season.
