DES MOINES, Iowa - UNI track and field's Carter Morton leads the decathlon field after the first day's events at the MVC Championships.
Both the men's and women's teams are sitting in fifth place, but are positioned to tally points with the completion of the multis and the finals of preliminary events held today.
Morton has a 40-point lead over Ariel Atias of Illinois, and three more Panthers finished in the top six after the first day: Morton also scored points for the Panthers with a sixth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 51.
