CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI track and field's Darius King earned the Missouri Valley Field Athlete of the Week honors for a throw that puts him in the nation's top 10.
King opened his outdoor shot put season with a throw that ranks ninth nationally among the current marks.
It tops the Missouri Valley Conference and is just shy of his career best for outdoor (20.14 meters). He threw 19.68 meters to take first place at Drake's Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.
King is coming off his third NCAA championship appearance.
