ST LOUIS — Northern Iowa will face Wichita State for the third time this season after pulling out a close victory against Southern Illinois on Friday.
Led by Jeremy Morgan’s 18 points, UNI (20-12) pulled away from SIU in a 66-60 win during the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The junior guard made 3-of-5 3-point attempts and 5-of-7 free throws in the second half to lead the team.
The Panthers, who never trailed in the contest, hit eight-straight free throws to salt the game away.
SIU (22-10) was led by all-MVC first-teamer Anthony Beane, who had 17 points in his final game as a Saluki.
