CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team opened its 2016-27 season with a 74-37 triumph over the Coe Kohawks in the McLeod Center.
UNI shot 52.6 percent from the floor and the Panther bench outscored the Kohawk bench, 45-11.
UNI was led in scoring by Jeremy Morgan and Bennett Koch as each tallied 11 points. Morgan scored all 11 of his points in the first half as he drained a trio of three-pointers and tallied four steals.
The Panthers used a 17-0 run in the first half to turn a 5-4 lead into a 22-4 advantage.
