CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Bryce Douglas had heard the rumblings, but he still wasn’t convinced a reunion was actually happening.
Too good to be true, the Northern Iowa defensive lineman figured. No way his old position coach was returning this soon.
He was thrilled to be wrong. Indeed, Bryce Paup is back.
“I just couldn’t stop smiling when I actually saw him in person,” Douglas said. “It’s like when your best friend moves away and comes back. It’s just great having him here.”
Ask around and you’ll hear duplicate answers. Paup, who was officially re-added to Mark Farley’s staff last week after spending the 2017 season at Minnesota, embodies the UNI program in every facet.
