Northern Iowa’s offseason filled with coaching transition has concluded.
The Panthers announced Wednesday the addition of D.J. Vokolek as linebackers/assistant head coach and D.P. Eyman as running backs coach, completing UNI’s on-field staff for the 2017 season. Wednesday’s additions mean the Panthers will have seven new coaches on their sideline this year.
Vokolek returns for his second Cedar Falls stint, having served as a UNI defensive assistant from 2003-05. He was the Panthers’ linebacker/assistant coach for two seasons, then transitioned to defensive coordinator for UNI’s FCS runner-up season in 2005. Vokolek most recently coached at Buffalo an assistant head football coach/defensive backs coach in 2015.
