LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Northern Iowa softball team finished weekend play at the Jayhawk Invitational a perfect 5-0, defeating Western Illinois 4-0 on Sunday. The weekend marked the first time since 2011 UNI-Dome Invitational that the Panthers (20-6) went unbeaten in a five-game tournament.
Caitlin Wnek grabbed her 20th RBI of the season in the opening half inning, bring in Samantha Olson on a sacrifice fly to left field to put UNI ahead 1-0.
Alyssa Buchanan replaced Chelsea Ross in the circle with the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the second, retiring three straight batters to end the inning and keep the Leathernecks off the scoreboard.
