A fake field goal pushed Eastern Washington to a 34-30 win against UNI on Saturday.
UNI had just taken the lead 30-28 with a career-long, 49-yard field goal by Matt Easley with about four minutes left in the game. Then the Eagles took over at their own 25 and drove to the UNI 23.
Then, with 43 seconds left, things got weird.
Eastern lined up for a 40-yard field goal but instead passed the ball to Beau Byus for a 23-yard score. After the successful fake, EWU attempted a two-point conversion, but failed.
UNI's last-ditch effort to take the lead stalled, dropping the Panthers to 1-2 on the year.
