UNI basketball: Tanner Lohaus leaving Panther program, looking to rekindle baseball career

CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Tanner Lohaus is changing sports.

The Northern Iowa redshirt freshman forward is leaving the Panther program to try to rekindle his baseball career, a UNI spokesperson confirmed to the Register on Wednesday night.

Lohaus appeared in seven games this past season, averaging 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest. His lengthiest outing came against Chicago State on Nov. 18, when the 6-foot-7 forward played 16 minutes, hit a free throw and grabbed five boards.

UNI hasn’t had baseball since 2009, so Lohaus’ athletic career will continue at a different school. The Iowa City West alum played three years of varsity baseball for the Trojans as both a pitcher and shortstop.
