Northern Iowa's five-game winning streak came to a halt Tuesday in its Missouri Valley Conference opener as the Panthers fell, 76-70, at Illinois State.
The Panthers (11-2, 0-1 MVC) led by as many as 15 points in the first half and used that momentum to garner a 30-20 lead at the halftime break.
Illinois State (6-7, 1-0 MVC) bounced back. The Redbirds tied the game 38-38 with just under 14 minutes to go. The teams went back and forth until a 3-pointer by Northern Iowa's AJ Green tied the game at 70 apiece with 57 seconds to play.
