MOLINE, Ill. — Top-seeded Northern Iowa avoided a women's basketball debacle.
The Panthers held on to beat Bradley 46-45 in a quarterfinal matchup at the Missouri Valley Conference women’s tournament when Sharnae Lamar stripped the ball away and dribbled up court as time expired in the fourth quarter.
It was an off shooting performance for Northern Iowa (21-9), which made just four of its 18 3-point attempts.
Madison Weekly scored the Panthers’ final nine points, ending with two free throws to give Northern Iowa a 46-43 lead over the Braves (9-22) with 2:10 left.
Weekly was hampered by foul issues but still scored 22 points.
