CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Some efficient shooting by Northern Iowa’s top scorers helped the Panther women get off to a winning start in Missouri Valley Conference play Friday with a 62-51 victory over Evansville at the McLeod Center.
Madison Weekly (17 points), Angie Davison (12) and Jen Keitel (11) combined to shoot 15-for-26 from the floor as the Panthers (6-6, 1-0) triumphed for the third time in four games.
A 17-9 second-quarter spurt helped Northern Iowa build a five-point halftime lead over the struggling Aces (1-11, 0-1), and the advantage grew as large as 15 late in the third quarter.
