ST. LOUIS – Sophomore safety Korby Sander was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping UNI to its third shutout of the season in a 37-0 win over Missouri State Saturday in the UNI-Dome.
Sander tallied a team-high 13 tackles, forcing a fumble on Missouri State's first play from scrimmages and intercepting a tipped pass.
Both turnovers led to Panther field goals. The forced fumble was recovered by A.J. Allen and turned into a Panther field goal. The interception was tipped into the air by Duncan Ferch and Sander dove to snag the ball just before it hit the turf.
