ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Junior linebacker Jared Farley has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in UNI's 25-20 win over FBS foe Iowa State.
The Cedar Falls native helped his father, head coach Mark Farley, to his 130th win Saturday to become the all-time winningest coach in the football program's history.
The junior racked up a team-high eight tackles that included four solo and four assists. His key play of the night came with less than 1:30 on the clock, when Farley notched his second career interception on Iowa State quarterback Joel Lanning's pass on the ISU 46-yard-line to seal the win for the Panthers after UNI had scored to take back the lead with 2:49 remaining.
