The key matchup of the night was with All-MVC big men and Cameron Krutwig. scored the first 6 points for the Panthers on his way to finish the first half with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Phyfe held Loyola's Krutwig to 1-5 from the field and 1 rebound in the first 20 minutes.
The Panthers led by 7 with 4:03 remaining the first half before a scoring drought left the Panthers with a 1-point lead at the break.
