CARBONDALE, Ill. – The University of Northern Iowa softball team found themselves in a low scoring affair against on Sunday afternoon in the series-deciding game three against the Salukis, but found a different result as they fell to Southern Illinois 2-0. The loss marks the first time that UNI (36-17, 14-9 MVC) has lost a season series against SIU since 2010.
The series finale marked the second pitcher's duel of the weekend between Chelsea Ross and SIU's Brianna Jones, who leads the MVC in both wins and ERA. After holding the Salukis scoreless in her last three appearances, Ross surrendered a run in the opening inning as SIU's Shaye Harre hit a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.
