The Northern Iowa wrestling team opened this week with a second-place finish at the Midlands Championships at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The Panthers ended the week back at home in the West Gym, where they defeated Utah Valley, 32-12, for their first dual victory of the season.
Northern Iowa now 1-2 overall, opened the Big 12 portion of its schedule on Saturday by winning seven of 10 matches, including six straight victories between 141 and 184. Even more, the Panthers scored bonus points in five of their seven wins.
Jacob Schwarm opened the dual with a first-period pin over William Edelblute at 125 pounds.
