The Northern Iowa wrestling program received a late addition to its 2021 recruiting class this week — and it's, quite literally, a big one.
John Gunderson, a graduated senior from Baraboo in Wisconsin, announced his commitment to the Panthers this week. He becomes the eighth known member of Northern Iowa's 2021 class, and projects at 197 pounds.
Gunderson is one of wrestling's fast-rising stars. He won a Wisconsin state title this past season at 182 pounds, then followed with a double All-American showing at the Junior national championships earlier this month, taking sixth in freestyle and seventh in Greco-Roman, both at 195 pounds.
