ST LOUIS — Northern Iowa used clutch free-throw shooting to pull out a close victory against Southern Illinois on Friday.
Led by Jeremy Morgan’s 18 points, UNI (20-12) pulled away from SIU in a 66-60 win during the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The junior guard made 3-of-5 3-point attempts and 5-of-7 free throws in the second half to lead the team.
UNI hit eight straight free throws to salt the game away. The Panthers never trailed during the contest.
UNI will face Wichita State in the Arch Madness semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
