Northern Iowa men’s basketball picked up its first commitment in the 2023 class in Michigan point guard R.J. Taylor. He announced his decision via Twitter on Friday.
The 5-foot-11 guard out of Grand Blanc High School held other offers from Southern Illinois, Elon, Oakland and Rhode Island. Loyola Chicago, Michigan State, Western Michigan and a few other programs expressed interest but did not offer.
Taylor is the first junior prospect to commit to Ben Jacobsen’s Panthers. He helped the Bobcats to the 2021 MHSAA Division I state championship and a runner-up finish in this season’s state title game.
