SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Darius King topped his personal best throw by a large margin and just short of the school record to finish eighth at the NCAA West Preliminaries and punch his ticket to the NCAA National Track and Field Championship.
King entered the weekend with a career-best throw of 18.52m (60-9¼). He blew past his previous best on his second throw with a toss of 19.00m. On his third throw, he again picked up another big increase with a throw of 19.32m (63-4¾). He is just the third Panther in school history to surpass 19m in the outdoor shot put.
