ST. LOUIS – UNI's Kailyn Packard was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher and Newcomer of the Week for her play against Southern Illinois over the weekend. This is the second Newcomer of the Week honor and first Pitcher of the week honor for Packard.
Packard had a dominant performance in the circle against the Salukis, going 2-0 with a no hitter and a 0.00 ERA. Packard started in the circle in game two of the series, pitching all 7 innings. The redshirt sophomore faced 26 batters and recorded 9 strikeouts and gave up 0 hits for her first no hitter as a Panther.
