After propelling Northern Iowa to the Tire Pros Invitational championship game, Panthers guard Jeremy Morgan has been named the Missouri Valley Conference player of the week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Morgan averaged a double-double — 19 points, 10 rebounds — in Orlando and was named to the all-tournament team, as UNI (3-1) upended Arizona State and Oklahoma before falling to Xavier in Sunday’s title game. The former Iowa City West standout had double-doubles against the Sun Devils (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Musketeers (20 points, 11 rebounds), as well as a 17-point outing in UNI’s overtime comeback win over the Sooners.
