CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — The Iowa Shrine Bowl showed why Carson Lensing’s Iowa State football scholarship was safe.
The South Winneshiek star committed to the Cyclones last June, stuck through a tough season and subsequent coaching change with Matt Campbell, and was still, somehow, the only in-state recruit in their 2016 class.
Lensing was strong for the North squad’s defense in Saturday evening’s all-star charity event, but his fellow ISU-bound teammates will have to build on the impact they made at the UNI-Dome.
“The more Iowa guys the better,” Lensing said. “It was a little weird coming in, being the only guy from Iowa State that’s on scholarship.
