Injury-riddled Panthers 'fresh,' prepared for MAC meet

Doug Schwab’s wrestling lineup is far from a picture of perfect health.

“Fresh is probably the word I’d use,” the Northern Iowa coach said this week. “We’ve really backed off, and we’ve got guys who are excited to go out and compete.”

But healthy? Well, that’s an adjective unfit for the Panthers this season.

They lost senior 149-pounder Jarrett Jensen to a shoulder surgery before they reached the season’s starting gate. They lost 125-pound All-American Dylan Peters for nearly two months to a knee problem.

Jake Koethe surged into the national rankings at 141 before he suffered a torn ACL.
