Belmont University is leaving the Ohio Valley Conference to join the Missouri Valley Conference, which includes Drake and Northern Iowa.
"It's a great school to have join our conference, from every perspective," Drake President Marty Martin told the Register on Tuesday. "Really strong athletic programs with particular strength in men's and women's basketball, great academic institution that fits the profile of the Missouri Valley Conference and brings a beautiful, vibrant city into the conference."
This marks the second conference shift for the Bruins in the past decade. Prior to joining the MVC, Belmont left the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2012 to join the OVC.
