An NIU football player was arrested Tuesday and charged with five charges, including a criminal felony.

Redshirt first-year Danny Walker appeared in court via closed-circuit video Wednesday on charges of aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting a peace officer, criminal felonies that could result in two to five years of prison time.

Walker was also charged with driving under the influence of drugs, failing to reduce driving speed and driving an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond for $5,000.

Walker crashed his car at the intersection of Annie Glidden Road and Route 64, according to DeKalb County Court records.
