Northern Illinois senior Trace Engelkes was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
It's the first time in his career that Engelkes has earned the honor and first time by a Huskie this season.
Engelkes (12-2) won both of his matches this weekend – including a 6-2 decision of Illinois' Zach Brunson, who was ranked No. 9 in the nation. The NCAA released the first of four coaches rankings and Engelkes is currently ranked No. 25 at 174.
The Huskies will wrestle at Kent State on Friday and Central Michigan on Sunday.
