Northern Illinois pitcher Alex Frenz emerged as the Huskies' ace this season and was named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday.
Frenz also made second team all-MAC, being one of five Huskies to be recognized by the conference.
Senior catcher Emily Naegele and junior first baseman Kayti Grable were each named to the first team, while junior shortstop Kali Kossakowski and senior outfielder Caitlyn Warren joined Frenz on the second team.
After a rotating group of starting pitchers early in the season, Frenz eventually became the primary hurler for the Huskies.
