Men's soccer gets shutout in rainy defeat

DeKALB — The No. 13 ranked Western Michigan Broncos were too much for the Huskies as NIU tallied their first conference loss of the season on a 5-0 defeat Saturday.

The Huskies (3-8, 0-1-1 Mid-American Conference) were unable to deal with the high-powered Broncos offense and the rainy conditions.

Head Coach Ryan Swan said it was a tall task playing against a ranked team like Western Michigan, and the Broncos came more ready to play.

“Obviously that’s a good Western Michigan team, [and] at the end of the day, it was men against boys,” Swan said.
