UNT's dominant showing over SMU just the first measure of how far Mean Green have come under Seth Littrell

DENTON -- By the time Mason Fine finished high-fiving the front row of Apogee Stadium’s student section, the North Texas junior quarterback was still smiling.

Fine and the Mean Green had every reason to grin.

He had a career night. UNT handled SMU in a 46-23 victory that only seemed that close because of a few late scores. And the team looked completely unrecognizable from the one coach Seth Littrell inherited a few years ago.

When Fine exited the season opener for good with more than eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Mean Green had already made their point -- Littrell’s third year in Denton has a chance to be his best yet.
