How J.T. Barrett -- the QB neither Texas nor Texas A&M wanted -- became Ohio State's unsung hero

The quarterback neither Texas nor Texas A&M wanted will close out a record-setting career for Ohio State on Friday in the Cotton Bowl.

J.T. Barrett, of Wichita Falls Rider, has 37 OSU or Big Ten records going into the best non-College Football Playoff bowl game, against Southern Cal. The Buckeyes are 37-6 in his starts.

Barrett has far outperformed some quarterbacks from the recruiting class of 2013: Tyrone Swoopes with Texas and Kenny Hill Jr., who started at A&M and finished at TCU.

Barrett could have stayed in-state with Baylor, Texas Tech or North Texas. Texas and A&M never made an offer.
