5 breakout players for UNT in 2018: Mining local talent could pay big dividends for Mean Green

The former Denton Ryan standout was considered a recruiting steal for UNT when he signed with the Mean Green as part of their 2017 class. Davis was not only highly recruited, he was also from UNT's backyard. Davis has started to capitalize on that potential. He finished with 17 tackles as a freshman and won the starting job at UNT's nickel spot in spring practice. The experience he gained in his first season with the Mean Green should pay off this fall when he makes his debut as a starter.
