North Texas coach Seth Littrell has vowed to make the tight ends a bigger part of the Mean Green’s offense this season. Smith stands to benefit more than any other player on UNT’s roster. The senior ranked fifth among UNT players in both receptions (29) and receiving yards (269) in 2018. Smith could easily surpass those totals this season while also playing a key role in the running game as a blocker. UNT intends to have a tight end on the field the majority of the time. Smith is almost certainly going to be that player.
