Women's Tennis Cruises Past SCSU

CHAPEL HILL - Top seed North Carolina picked up a 4-0 victory over South Carolina State on Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

North Carolina (27-0) will face No. 29 Old Dominion (17-7) in Saturday's second round match at 4 p.m. The Monarchs earned a 4-2 victory over No. 33 Arkansas (11-11) on Friday morning on the indoor courts.

The doubles portion of the match was played outdoors and took about 20 minutes for Carolina to grab an early 1-0 lead over the MEAC champions.
