HARRISONBURG, VA.—Second-ranked North Carolina got big games from Caitlyn Wurzburger and Jamie Ortega and won at No. 12 James Madison, 15-8, in the 2022 season opener for both teams on Saturday at Sentara Park.
Wurzburger tied her career high with six points, scoring three goals and adding a career-high three assists.
Ortega had a goal and a career-high-tying three assists for four points, adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Ten different Tar Heel players scored goals as Carolina won for the 28th time in its last 29 games (dating to the start of the 2020 season).
