CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - It’s no secret that UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is at the forefront of research in the quest to cure cancer, but many may not know of the groundbreaking cancer therapy center that recently opened in the summer of 2016.
Named the UNC Lineberger Advanced Cellular Therapeutics Facility, the University of North Carolina women’s basketball program was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the cutting edge facility that hopes will be the next phase in the battle against the deadly disease.
Facility director Paul W. Eldridge, PhD, and fellow doctor Barbara Savoldo walked the players, coaches and support staff throughout the building to get a sense of how a technique called adoptive cell transfer is conducted.
