The North Carolina Tar Heels women’s lacrosse season fell short of their ultimate goal this year with a loss in the NCAA Tournament national semifinal.
After ranking second in the preseason poll, UNC nabbed the top spot in the national polls. Carolina retained the top spot in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), Inside Lacrosse, and USLacrosse rankings the entire season until the final poll after the national championship.
The Tar Heels finished third in the final IWLCA poll.
Despite their first and only loss of the season occuring in the national semifinal, UNC had a successful season.
