The UNC women’s tennis team defeated twelfth-seeded NC State in the Super Regional of the NCAA tournament 4-2 on Friday. The fifth-seeded Heels will travel to Waco, Texas for the rest of their NCAA tournament run.
Unlike their previous matchup in the ACC tournament against the Wolfpack, this one had some drama to it. UNC lost the opening doubles point and went down 1-0 to NC State; Carolina has only lost the opening point three times this season. Two of those three losses have been to NC State. The duo of Tatum Evans/Theadora Rabman won their match, but the Heels lost the decisive third match 7-6 (6).
