As the page turns to the back half of July and the start of the new school year is less than a month away, summer baseball in both the Cape Cod League and Coastal Plain League is winding down. Both leagues have a little over a week to go in their regular season and teams are gearing up for the playoffs.
On the Cape, the top four teams in each five-team division move on to the playoffs. The good news for the only remaining Tar Heel on the Cape, Austin Love, is that his Orleans Firebirds are in third and are a solid four games ahead of the last place Brewster Whitecaps.
