For the third year in a row, the Tar Heel field hockey staff has been honored as the best in NCAA DI field hockey.
Head coach Karen Shelton, associate head coach Grant Fulton, and assistant coach Robbert Schenk were announced on Tuesday evening by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as the 2020 NFHCA Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year. The three head a group that also includes performance analyst Chris Fry.
In the extended 2020-21 season, the Tar Heels won a third-consecutive and ninth-overall NCAA Championship, beating Michigan in overtime on their home turf at Karen Shelton Stadium.
