The intertwined history of the North Carolina women’s soccer team and the US women’s national team is well known, with many of the USWNT’s all-time greats having come through Chapel Hill.
However, a connection that’s grown quite a bit in recent years is that between UNC women’s soccer and the England national team. That continued on Sunday, as the English national team won their second consecutive European Championships with a roster that featured a couple former Tar Heels both on the field and on the sidelines.
On Sunday, England defeated Spain in a penalty shootout to take home the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 title.
