Remdesivir, a drug developed through a partnership between UNC’s Baric Lab and Gilead Sciences, was recently approved as a COVID-19 treatment. As of Oct. 22, remdesivir is the first and only FDA-approved COVID-19 treatment in the U.S. UNC faculty and students reflected on the significance of remdesivir’s approval — and what this means for the University.
