Every year, the University of North Carolina awards the Patterson Medal to some number of athletes, which is the most prestigious award for athletics at the school. This year’s recipients have been announced, and the honor has gone to four athletes: golfer David Ford, runner Ethan Strand, diver Aranza Vázquez Montaño, and runner Parker Wolfe.
The Patterson Medal is awarded to athletes who have had an outstanding career at UNC, played at least three seasons for their respective Tar Heel team, and have exhausted their college eligibility.
We — okay, mainly me — have written a decent amount about Ford in recent months.
