This is all so new, and that can be scary. Humans as a whole are generally resistant to change, and even when change becomes the new constant—as has been the case in this brave new college football world—it doesn’t necessarily get any easier. New products are often met with skepticism or rebuked outright; remember New Coke? Even the soda behemoth had difficulties introducing a new product, and years later the ad campaigns for Coke Zero were dominated by a kind of “it’s new but it’s not bad, try it, please” messaging, preempting the kneejerk reaction of folks who like the old Coke just fine, thanks.
