The last time the North Carolina Tar Heels were in Hawaii was ahead of the 2016-17 season in which they won the National Championship. UNC played in the 2016 Maui Invitational, winning the tournament early in the season.
Before they played in the Maui Invitational, head coach Roy Williams and is program scheduled a non-conference game at Hawaii to help prepare. If you remember correctly, due to the time difference, that game had a late tipoff.
The game didn’t end until about 3 a.m. EST, making for a very late night for UNC fans.
Now just a few years later the Tar Heels are set to return to Hawaii for another exhibition game early in the season.
