The North Carolina basketball program is on the rise in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll after a blowout victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies last week. The Tar Heels, who rejoined the top-10 last week, have risen all the way to ninth in this week’s poll.
With 48 out of 64 votes, the Tennessee Volunteers stayed atop the poll for the second consecutive week — increasing their first stint at No. 1 in better than a decade. The Vols narrowly avoided defeat last Monday at Vanderbilt when the Commodores pushed them to the final seconds of overtime.
