With a victory over the Oregon Ducks at the 2019 Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday, the No. 6 North Carolina Tar Heels took third-place at the tournament, and improved to 6-1 on the young season.
And with the win, UNC head coach Roy Williams captured his 877th victory, passing former Kentucky great Adolph Rupp on college basketball’s all-time wins list. Williams now sits at fifth-place on the wins list among men’s college basketball coaches.
He’s now just two victories behind his mentor, Dean Smith, whose 879 wins from 1961 to 1997 rank fourth all-time.
